Colorado Suggests Felony Sentences for Multiple DUI Offenders

By March 11, 2013Thomas Law Firm

A new bill has been proposed in 2013 that would make certain DUI offenses a felony offense. Colorado does not presently have a felony offense solely because someone is a repeat offender.

If enacted the law would make any person convicted a fourth DUI, DUI per se, or DWAI in his lifetime, or any three of theses offenses in the prior seven years, face a class 5 felony. This felony would carry a potential sentencing range of 1 to 3 years, followed up by a 2 year period of parole.
