What would you do if you were a passenger in a car and the driver cracked open a beer and started drinking it?
What would you do if you were a passenger on a bus, and the driver was drinking while driving?
You’d think you’d stop them or say something – but turns out, not everyone would.
Booze Bus Driver Guides a Tour While Drinking – What Happens Next Will Shock You!
Denver loves its craft beer scene, and one way for Coloradans and our guests to experience our craft breweries is through party bus brewery tours. In late August, one such tour, headed by employees of A Few Brews, shuttled a group of beer connoisseurs to three different breweries downtown. The passengers got to enjoy craft beers on the bus to their heart’s content, and nobody on the bus seemed bothered at all when the driver popped open a beer and started drinking right along with them.
What does this tell us about public opinion of drunk driving? Well, it could mean that many adults underestimate the dangers of drinking and driving. The driver only had a few beers – he was probably safe to drive, or so the passengers may have thought.
Fortunately, the whole thing was a ruse, elaborated constructed by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). The driver was in on it, and he was actually drinking non-alcoholic beer. The whole point of it was for CDOT to raise awareness of DUI by pretending to drive drunk, and to hammer down the point that even after just one or two drinks, it’s not a good idea to drive.
Clever move, CDOT.
